Week 2 Weirdest expo?: Hilary
Putting the 'fun' in funeral..
'Shukatsu Festa' funeral
business fair/expo in Tokyo
This expo
in Japan lets you try resting in a coffin, allowing the participant to plan their
own funeral down to exactly what they’ll be wearing on the day. This expo helps
people plan their sending off, with death being a growing business in Japan
with their aging population and declining birth rates.
At this
expo, people lay in coffins try on their “last journey after death” outfits,
got death appropriate make overs and posed for funeral portraits.
Although
this is a grim topic, this has turned into a craze in Japan, more and more
people are planning for death like they would plan for a wedding. This includes
selecting a coffin and what outfit they’ll be wearing. This ‘try before you
die’ funeral expo attracted over 5,000 people and 50 companies.
This is a
way for people to plan the perfect goodbye.. although this would be a pretty
morbid expo to attend
