Waste management- Where to get bins from?
My aspect of waste removal for the project was where you can borrow bins from. I have researched into this and have listed below my findings.
- Bins can be borrowed from MAWSA where you can find different bins for different materials. There are bins for paper, waste, plastic and metal. The different sections will allow for the correct waste to be correctly disposed of. We can ask Mawsa to give us a few more bins on the day as there will be a lot of people so maybe more waste, but otherwise, there should be waste bins around for the different collectives to dispose of their waste after the expo.
- Wellington City Council; They allow up to 15 bins to be booked for events that happen around Wellington. You can choose from 4 bins or book all. These include a bin for organic materials, for glass materials, for plastic and tin and lastly one for general rubbish, which gives you plenty of options for how you get rid of the different types of waste. This means you are able to recycle as well. They have some rules that someone (one person) must monitor the bins at all time and that the waste needs to be removed by you and the event.
