Week 7 prototype and production plan: Hilary

tie and secure the rope while the frame isn't propped up yet

while doing prototyping- we can keep the popped balloon shards and cut them up to create confetti

I have created the shared document for the proposal production plan stating how things will be run throughout our expo along with all of the health and safety concerns

Prototyping:
While prototyping, we decided on the spacing of the rope and the visualised the general idea of having the balloons hanging over head. We figured out our spacing in the hallway along with placing people in our model to be able to see the scale of each part. We also had to decide on how we were tying the rope to our frame as we would want this evenly spaced yet secured overhead.
We decided on our production sequence:
  1. Joined all the correct number poles to each other
  2. Tied rope onto the top poles and taped these down to secure them- to add safety for the attendees so the rope doesn’t slide and move while being popped.
  3. Place tarpaulin on the ground and secure this to the four corners of our gazebo so whatever we are popping out of the balloons will stay in the confines of the taped up tarpaulin
  4. Attach balloons to secured string overhead using pegs
  5. We then put our coloured dots down at the beginning of our stall for our decision making process for the attendees to quest through, before reaching their desired colour balloon
  6. During our full scale prototype we were able to understand how our ‘stall’ in the expo was going to run. Since we have chosen a hallway, each participant would having to go through our stall which meant we would have to each ‘act out’ how this would work deciding how many people could go through at once- we decided on one or two. We then decided on the roles in our group
    1. Reading out questions - claire, holly
    2. Blowing up balloons- all of us beforehand
    3. Replacing balloons -hilary, krista
    4. Moving/taking care of shoes and ponchos- alissa
    5. Cleaning up ground from excess water and confetti and watching out for participant safety- hilary, bianca, krista
    6. Popping balloons- bianca
During this full scale prototype we received helpful feedback regarding health and safety - requesting that we put up hazard signs such as ‘watch your step’ and striped hazard tape over where to watch your head and your step in our stall. We also figured out we couldn't put very much water into our balloons as the pegs wouldn't hold this. As well as regarding water safety- we bought bath mats to later place over top of the tarpaulin to stand on
We would’ve liked to have the chance to work with the surrounding ‘neighbour’ teams who would be having their stall situated around ours so we could get a feel for what the flow of people would be like however, other teams did not show up in their spaces on this full scale prototyping day
