Week 9 Critic for Impossible things- Rapid Eye Movement: Hilary
In 'impossible things- Rapid Eye Movement', I found
myself not knowing where one groups idea finished and the next started- so that’s
a positive as it flowed really nicely at the start of the experience and each group followed on from the previous.
I found it
odd how they had their safety briefing AFTER we’ve already been through two
situations that could’ve been hazardous- being blindfolded, taken in a hot, dark
room with strobe lights although there was a brief warning beforehand.
I think the
expo address their theme well their impossible things being in the form of dreams-
rapid eye movement being shorted to REM which people throughout the expo
mentioned so it really felt like a collective.
The
atmosphere was very fun and interested in what this collective had to offer- I could
see plenty of people participating and enjoying themselves in the ‘dream state’.
Their offering
was a dream state – altering reality, dreams
eg choosing
a dream, wealth, power or immortality- then the group showed us the downside
and reality of the dream that we picked with our token. The collective had a
variety of offerings- from being able to pick your dream and to not being able
to, and have a nightmare like experience which some of the groups did, scaring
the attendees

One thing i would improve on would be the waiting around during the expo and we had to wait for an amount of time to participant is some offerings which definitely influenced the smoothness of the people flow
